How Will Video Size Effect Magazine App

I will be uploading a video for my own magazine tutorial and I need to know how the video will effect the final file size of the magazine app. In the rare wire tutorial the 2 minute constitution.mp4 video was about 8 meg. My video is between 24 and 36 meg depending on if I use 15 or 24 Frames per second. My video size is 352 x 288.

so is there anything else I can do to trim the my MP4 file size without losing dimensions or smooth motion. I'm using iMovie 6.

and once the video is embedded in the app will it increase the magazine file size by the exact size of the video. So if my magazine app is 5meg will adding a 36 meg video increase the magazine to 41 meg on the iPad?

If the video in question is stored locally within the WIRE project then it will increase the size of the downloaded App but the size of the video. This of course makes the video reliable. Not sure what you can do to slim down to video without suffering in the quality department. It sounds like you have gotten it down to an acceptable size at 25 mb.

You could opt to load the video from a URL and save the download size. This would make your video dependent on an internet connection however, so that is something to consider.

my concern is that if I want to have a 2 to 4 video tutorials I'll be getting upwards of 100 meg. Not sure what is acceptable for the iPad magazine.

If I use a link from a youtube video that would be ideal but I'm not sure of the coding. I saw an article about using annotations to create links in Preview with your PDF file but I assume that will take me away from the app when clicked. Are there examples of coding to embed a working youtube video in the app so the video is not stored in the wire project but plays within the magazine app?

I think most acceptable magazines are around 150 MB per issue. This would be a lot higher if your weren't using the PDF solution we have in place. For example, mags like Wired are upwards of 300mb per issue.

Using the annotations in preview will not take you out of the App, you just have to make sure you create a web tag that will act as the container for the web sites to load. This is all in this tutorial: http://content.rarewire.com/wordpress...
